124. Applications for registration of a horse under the Breeders' Prize Scheme
124.1 An application for the registration of a horse under the Scheme may be made by the recorded breeder of a horse if the breeder is invited to apply.
124.2 The application must be made using the Prescribed form and must be received at The Racing Calendar Office within 30 days of the date of the letter inviting the application.
124.3 The recorded breeder must sign the form and certify that all the qualifying conditions specified in either Paragraph 124.4 or 124.5 are met in respect of the horse.
124.4 The qualifying conditions in this Paragraph are that the horse was foaled in Great Britain and that
- 124.4.1 it did not leave Great Britain before July 1st of the year following the year of birth, or
124.4.2 if it did, it was to accompany its dam to a stallion outside Great Britain, either returning with the dam to Great Britain before October 1st of that year or, if the dam died abroad, returning alone to Great Britain before October 1st of that year.
124.5 The qualifying conditions in this Paragraph are that
- 124.5.1 the horse was foaled while its dam was visiting a stallion outside Great Britain,
124.5.2 it returned with its dam to Great Britain before October 1st of the year of its birth or, if the dam died abroad, it returned alone to Great Britain before October 1st of the year of its birth, and
124.5.3 it did not again leave Great Britain before July 1st of the following year.
124.6 A horse which otherwise meets all the qualifying conditions specified in Paragraph 124.4 or 124.5 shall not be disqualified from the Scheme if the horse is exported from Great Britain having been sold in the year of its birth, or as a yearling, under the hammer by public auction in Great Britain at sales administered by Tattersalls Ltd., Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Ltd. or by Brightwells Ltd.
124.7 A horse which otherwise meets the qualifying conditions specified in Paragraph 124.4 or 124.5 shall not be disqualified, in respect of any steeple chase, hurdle race or National Hunt Flat Race, from the Scheme if the horse is exported from Great Britain having been sold in the year of its birth, or as a yearling, under the hammer by public auction outside of Great Britain.
